Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone has been a bold and faithful advocate for the sanctity of marriage, life, and religious liberty throughout his decades of service in the Catholic Church. Appointed by Pope Benedict XVI in 2012, he currently serves as the Metropolitan Archbishop of San Francisco.

A native of San Diego, Archbishop Cordileone was ordained to the priesthood in 1982 and holds a doctorate in Canon Law from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. His ministry has included service in parish life, at the Vatican’s highest canonical court, and as Bishop of Oakland.
